This linear shaped home is located amongst densely populated trees on top of a hill surrounded by idyllic rural mountain views. The young family engaged us to design a compact family home that nestled into the hilltop location, capturing the western views overlooking distant ranges. This home was to feature a well thought out layout with an open plan living, kitchen and dining and kids wing and parents retreat all to feel separate.

Having to work with bush fire ratings and high wind categories, design features such as windows and doors had to be carefully selected in order to maximize light and ventilation, which was a must from the client.

With the best views facing the west, it was essential to get the best design outcome for the clients in order for them to be able to enjoy the alfresco all year round. This was achieved by careful orientation of the house and walls placed to shade the area without obstructing the views.
